I don't know what all Pokemon games have come out on the DS for starters lol Not my issue though, issue is I think Diamond and Pearl are the most recent, however I don't know which one I should get or even if those are the most recent. Help?
After looking more, what is this Platinum version LOL HELP!

diamond and pearl are the oldest of the games for the ds that aint spin offs and platinum is the 3rd one of diamond and platinum and only recently released.
imho get platinum as it has both pearl and diamond in it except for i think 2 pokemon (they aint the main legendrys on the front of diamond and pearl case they are still available) and it is greatly updated with different things

What does this mean it doesn't work with DSi? I'm a DS n00b lol I have a regular DS so I assume this would be fine, but is there a version of this game that will work with DSi in case I do get a DSi?

Almost all DS games will work with all DS's (this includes the original, Lite, and DSi). The only exceptions are games that require the GBA slot (Guitar Hero, Personal Trainer Walking) because the DSi doesn't have a GBA port. And, obviously, downloadable games will only work on the DSi. I guess I should mention that Pokemon can communicate with the GBA games via the GBA slot, but it isn't necessary to play the game to 99% of it's potential.
In short, yes, Pokemon D/P/P will work on the DS, Lite, and DSi.
I would go with Platinum if I were you. It's from the most recent generation along with Diamond and Pearl, and packs the most content. It is the "Yellow" version of this gen, if you will.

Dunno.
They may be referring to the fact that the DSi lack a GBA slot, which can be used to transfer Pokemon from the GBA games to the DS games (meaning it can't be done on a DSi). But that seems a little specific for an ebay seller lol.
But yeah, the DSi is backwards compatible with everything that doesn't require the GBA slot, as it is just a variant of the DS (think, GBA:GBASP::DS:DSi, not GB:GBA::DS:DSi).

Haha. Imagine everyone has a "cousin" that looks and acts similar to the guys/Pokemon from RBY, but they're not quite exactly the same. That's D/P. It'll feel familiar but not exactly.

Lol Well ok. Hope the Pokemon aren't super weird looking also, I have no idea what the new generation of Pokemon look like. Should be really fun though! I'm looking forward to playing it, should be here by the end of this week
